How to get to the institute

By car

You can get to Darmstadt via Autobahn (motorway) A5 (Frankfurt <-> Heidelberg) or A67 (Mainz <-> Mannheim). Follow the signposts pointing to “Darmstadt Stadtmitte” (city center).

Drive straight on towards the city center. After about 3.5 km the street descends into a tunnel. At the end of the tunnel the street splits up. Take the left exit (towards Aschaffenburg). After leaving the tunnel, keep on the rightmost lane. Immediately in front of the next traffic lights, drive into the last parking lot on the right side. There is a prominent “Pfungstädter Brauerei” advertisement on the wall of the building our institute resides in (Karlstraße 15). Please park your car in the area where the letters “THD” are painted onto the asphalt, and please also leave a business card behind the windshield.

By plane

Frankfurt am Main Airport is about 25 km from Darmstadt. An express bus named AirLiner leaves from stop post 14 of the bus station opposite of terminal C. Tickets can be bought from the driver. The bus takes about 20 minutes to Darmstadt Hauptbahnhof (main railway station). From there, use public transport as described in the following paragraph.

By train

After arriving at Darmstadt Hauptbahnhof (main railway station), leave the building through the main entrance. Local bus and tram lines depart from the bus stops directly in front of the station building. Take tram line 2 or 3 and step off at Schulstraße tram station. Cross the Hügelstraße. There is a prominent “Pfungstädter Brauerei” advertisement on the wall of the building our institute resides in (Karlstraße 15).
