Wednesday 10th July : Guided Tour and finger food
Along the Cultural Axis: From Darmstadt Castle to Mathildenhöhe
Join the guided tour along the Darmstadt cultural axis „Ollenhauer Promenade“ that leads from Darmstadt Castle to the famous Mathildenhöhe. Nearly 800 years of city and university history will accompany you. Beginning at the Darmstadt Castle the tour continues through the former historic center of the city, where university buildings took place after the complete destruction during the Second World War. Ollenhauer Promenade eventually leads to the Mathildenhöhe. Here, at the instigation of the Grand Duke Ernst Ludwig of Hesse an artists' colony was founded in 1899. Under the chief planner, the architect Josef Maria Olbrich, arose an outstanding Art Nouveau ensemble.
As a recognized expert in city and university history Brigitte Kuntzsch will accompany you on the tour.
In conclusion of the guided tour, we kindly invite every participant to meet around a finger food buffet. It is the best occasion to share your first impressions of the conference with other participants and get to know everyone ! The finger food buffet will be served next to the conference rooms.
